I'm getting ready to go inside the roof for a rodent treatment, and this is the box that we are using. It's a tamper-resistant bait station. It's locked, and I'm the only one with the key to open it.
Where baiting is appropriate, FAB uses locked, tamper-resistant stations designed to help reduce the chance of children, pets and non-target animals reaching the bait when installed and used according to the product label.
No station removes every risk, so Fabien explains where each station is placed and what to watch for before he leaves.

For rodent treatment, the way we operate, step one is the inspection. We need to understand where the rodents are coming from, so we inspect all around the house, your shed and inside the garage. The second part is finding and identifying the entry points or sources that can attract rats, such as trees and conducive conditions — like a leaking tap or the hot water system. The third step is going through your roof and collecting as much evidence as we can to show our customer. As a customer you don't know exactly what's going on in the roof void, so we take pictures of the evidence to show you. It's not just about placing bait — it's understanding where they are coming from. In this package we have the first visit, and the second is the follow-up visit, where we reassess activity and service the bait stations.
The aim is to understand where activity is concentrated and how rodents are getting in, so treatment reflects the actual problem.

In March 2026, the APVMA introduced tighter interim controls and extra use instructions for some second-generation anticoagulant rodenticides. The aim is to reduce risks to people, pets and non-target wildlife while the broader review continues.
FAB assesses the activity, property conditions and surrounding risks before recommending an appropriate approach. Depending on the site, this may include monitoring, trapping, compliant baiting, entry-point recommendations and follow-up rather than relying on one product alone.
Any rodenticide used by FAB will be selected and applied in accordance with the current product label and applicable APVMA directions.
Rodents follow food, shelter and easy access. What you notice — a sound overhead, droppings in a cupboard — is usually the visible part of a larger picture that includes entry points and harbourage areas you can't see. Roof rats are commonly associated with ceiling voids, wall cavities and stored items in Perth homes, and activity overhead often points to an accessible entry along the roofline, eaves or a vent.
Placing a bait block in a cupboard can knock down a single visitor, but it doesn't address the gap they came through or the conditions supporting them. Bait can reduce activity, but on its own it doesn't address how rodents are getting in or the conditions supporting them. Long-term results usually depend on identifying entry points and contributing factors alongside treatment.
